Hello hello!
This week I was brought back to my childhood days. When I was a kid, me and my sister used to play with Playmobile all the time. Although I never really played with Legos, I used to take a look at them in toy stores and I am still completely amazed by the complexity of some of them - a true work of art. So, me and Sebastian were really excited to know that the biggest European Lego exhibition has come to Lisbon!
Taking place at Cordoaria Nacional (right next to Belém, perfect for visitors who are planning on going to this iconic part of the city), it divides the space with another exhibition called 3D Trick Gallery. Tickets are available here, and they have a variety of combinations you can choose from - tickets can be bought individually or on a 2+2 set (2 adults, 2 children), vary if it’s a weekday or weekend, and if you are planning on visiting one exhibition or both of them. Since we were just two adults visiting only the Lego side of the space on a weekday, we paid 9 euros each.
I didn’t know exactly what I was expecting, but I was certainly well surprised with all of the pieces that were set up there! The moment you walk in you don’t immediately see or are aware of the whole space, but you spot right away some of the major pieces, such as soccer stadiums, real life size statues of Thor and Captain America and a real life size Lego statue of the tallest man in the world!
We moved along to the other scenarios exhibited and this was our favorite part: there are some city montages, fully Lego made, with details you can’t even imagine! Details such as waiters with trays inside cafes, rock climbing pieces on walls for fireman and newsstands filled with different newspapers and magazines.
There are some thematic areas dedicated exclusively to Stars Wars, Disney and world monuments. I really loved the Disney one as it has many of the classics’ palaces and scenarios set up. Although I’m not a Star Wars fan, this part of the exhibition is also surprisingly detailed!
There’s a huge Titanic Lego recreation that must be about 4 or 5 meters long - some areas of the ship are open to the inside where you can see the classic dinner area where Rose goes down the stairs to meet Jack, and even a tiny Rose and a tiny Jack at the bow of the ship, just like in the movie.
You will be able to find dozens of different Lego scenarios, like the Simpsons, old western, a winter themed one and lots of different ones! I have to say I was a bit disappointed they didn’t have more Harry Potter sets apart from a Quidditch game, since these are the most amazing ones I see in toy stores. Also, they didn’t have any Stranger Things ones, and these are also some really cool ones I’ve seen in boxes.
Apart from this, I think this was one of the coolest exhibitions I’ve been to recently. It took me down my childhood memory lane, even though I never really played with Legos. Sebastian was completely amazed and couldn’t stop talking about going to buy some Legos! This is an amazing exhibition regardless of your age, so if you’re interested make sure you buy your tickets until the end of the exhibition on March 21st 2021!
