The Best Barcelona Viewpoint

Updated: Oct 17, 2022

Hi internet people!

I’m trying to make a comeback to the blog, so let’s start this new season with my favorite highlight from the trip I took to Barcelona in February 2022.

This was my second time in Barcelona. My first time was just a quick stop during a layover (which you can read more about in this post), but this time I went there and stayed for 3 nights. If you’ve never been there, it is a beautiful city - colorful, full of life and filled with nice people. It also has its downs, but I’ll leave that for another occasion.

But the ups! Oh dear, the ups are way high! And my favorite one falls a little bit out of the touristy attraction scope. I’m embarrassed to say, but Instagram brought me to this place - the moment I saw it, I instantly saved it and knew we had to go there. This place is (insert drum roll)...

The Ayre Hotel Rosellon rooftop!

This rooftop not only has an amazing view over the city, but it is a privileged viewpoint to the Sagrada Familia! I’ve seen this majestic building from the ground, or from far away while visiting other places, but the view from this rooftop is insane. You can see so much detail of the Sagrada Familia, something that I definitely cannot see when contemplating it from the ground.

Due to Instagram, this rooftop is becoming more and more popular, so you cannot visit it out of the blue. They accept visits by booking only, and they only open spots 7 days prior to each day, so you might want to take a note to book your spot 7 days prior to your visit. You can book your visit through this link.

Visitors don’t have to pay to go to the rooftop, however it is mandatory that you order something from their bar. It’s an interesting process: you order from the bar at the hotel front desk, and when you have your drinks you are then allowed to go up the lift and sit at the table that you booked.

Surprisingly, it is not overpriced (at least in my opinion). You can check their menu here - I asked for a non-alcoholic mojito, which tasted amazing besides the fact that it was made with sparkling water - which I don’t like - and I paid 8 EUR. I pay the same thing at a crappy night club, so 8 euros works wonders for me.

And then, after you enjoyed your drink and the view from the top, as the 2020’s dictate, you must take a photo from the rooftop.

Barcelona has beautiful things to offer, and this was one of the best surprises from the trip!
